Art of Messy

During high school I took ceramics as an elective class. This proved to be one of my favorite classes. For one, I had the best instructor in the west! (thank you Monji). Secondly, I was able to get messy. It was when I was messy or shall I say, when I was fully submersed in my clay, that I was the most creative.

Now, I would have never been able to embrace the mess, had I not been prepared. You see, I was a cheerleader. Yes, I know...think what you will. Well, on game days I had to wear my uniform to school. Cheer uniform + clay = unacceptable.

Solution: Oversized grey sweatpants & long sleeve shirt kept in my locker. I would begin every class by slipping "ceramic uniform" over my cheer gear. Only to end every class by jamming my ceramic gear back into my locker. It was during this year that I embrased the "Art of Messy".
